It is common knowledge that what matters most is not where you are, but what you are doing there. Most of the people in the world today have access, somehow, to civilization. However, how/what they access is what is of concern.
In Kenya for example, the government has embarked on a free and compulsory primary education program for all children who have attained school-going age. This has led to a very significant influx of children to public schools. As a result, the quality of education given to these children is compromised partly due to the struggle and partition for the few available learning resources and facilities. In some cases, pupils have been forced to take their classes from tree shades due to inadequate classrooms. The teacher to student ratio has been much overstretched too and, clearly, the content of what these pupils learn might not compare to what their counterparts get in private schools. This has been shown in the national examinations (KCPE and KCSE) where students from private schools have been known to perform much better than those from public schools.
Apart from basic education, most people in rural areas and vulnerable backgrounds don’t have the best know-how to enable them carry out their daily activities efficiently. They therefore need to be empowered so as to optimize their productivity and to enable them fit into the world today. This is where Gatepass comes in.
